Jon L. Powellis the chief knowledge officer at Hewitt Associates, a
global outsourcing and consulting firm that delivers a complete
range of human capital management services to companies. He is
responsible for the firm’s global knowledge management strategy
and execution. He has spent nearly twenty-five years in manage-
ment consulting, most of that time with A. T. Kearney and KPMG
Consulting (now BearingPoint). As a result of his consulting
experience, Powell has developed a passion and an expertise around
knowledge sharing in professional service firms. He is an adjunct
professor at Northwestern University, where he teaches applied
knowledge management in the Center for Learning and Organiza-
