physical body. Thank the waters and open your eyes.
If you wish, you can substitute an image of your choice
for the waterfall. You may want to bathe in sage smoke or
enter into a beautiful hot spring. Do what works for you.
Exercise #5: The Steps
- Relax and close your eyes.
- Picture your spirit body. Define the edges and
color. - Imagine a waterfall and pool.
- Bathe and drink to purify and cleanse.
- Thank the water.
Now here are some physical methods that are helpful in
reestablishing your equilibrium:
- Dousing with water has always been an excellent shamanic
method to regain balance. So, take a shower when you feel
off. - Mud baths and salt baths (epsom salts) are equally effec-
tive, especially when you consciously release everything
that is foreign into the bath. A dip in the ocean is also
excellent. That is why so many people feel great during
vacations by the ocean. - Burning sage, incense, or epsom salts and letting the
smoke drift over your body is an age-old shamanic cleanser
and balancer. - Vigorous exercise tends to knock out the foreign frequen-
cies and sets up a fresh pattern.
Grounding
Another way to be aware of what is happening with your
spirit body and to have greater control over your energy field
is through what we call grounding. Being grounded means
that you are aware of your body and you know how you feel
while you are carrying out ordinary affairs of the day. It
means feeling real, awake, and aware.
When you are zipping from one thing to the next during
the day, planning for future activities or remembering past
ones, it is easy to become "spaced out," or feel "unreal" or
"ungrounded." You know the feeling of being ungrounded
