I have told you all this in the full realization thatminorityandmajorityare political
terms that sometimes have little bearing on how people live their lives, and in the realiza-
tion that life is much more beautiful and complex, and that a person—and certainly a
modern person—may have several identities, several loyalties, and several worlds, no mat-
ter from what country he or she comes. What that life looks like, however, is not a matter
for government, but for dreams and literature.
