20.12 When hamzah is followed by the extra


alif (ـا.ً ..), mentioned in

chapter 5, or by a suffix pronoun, and preceded by a letter which can be


connected in writing from both sides (such as: ..ـبـ.. (^) .ـتـ.. (^) ..ـجـ.. etc.)
and which has a suku ̄n (^) ــْــ, the bearer of the hamzah is always ya ̄

(a) Followed by an extra

alif:
(b) Followed by a suffix pronoun:
20.13 When the hamzah occurs at the end of a word (or word stem)
preceded by one of the five letters ..ـو ..ـز ..ـر ..ـذ ..ـد, which can
be connected only from the right and which have a suku ̄n (^) ــْــ , there
will be two alternatives for writing the hamzah:
(a) The hamzah will stand alone, inasmuch as the following letter is
considered as part of a suffix pronoun, e.g.
ُج ْز ٌء g ̆uz

un, a part ُج ْز ًءا g ̆uz

an ُج ْز ٍء g ̆uz
