Canon RF 24-240mm
Canon R and RP owners can now enjoy a 10x zoom range from a single lens –
perfect for holiday photography and other times when you’re travelling light
T
he latest lens for Canon’s RF full-frame
mirrorless mount is noteworthy for a
couple of reasons: it’s compact and light,
and its 10x zoom range is the brand’s first since
the EF 35-350mm for EOS film cameras. This
will make the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM
ideal for travel photography, as well as for
all-purpose everyday applications.
Construction of the new lens comprises 21
elements in 15 groups, with seven diaphragm
blades and a filter diameter of 72mm. Five-stop
image stabilisation will offer reassurance when
you’re shooting at the long end, even in low-light
conditions, and Nano USM technology gives quick
and quiet autofocus. As with other RF optics, the
control ring can be switched between focus and
custom settings (shutter speed, aperture, EV
compensation and ISO) by flicking a switch.
The RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM weighs
750g, which is lighter than many stablemates in
the RF lens family. Its dimensions of 80 x 123mm
(diameter x length) means that it will pair well with
the EOS RP, the enthusiast version of the EOS R.
