Use the light
The light at a festival, from the lighting of the
bands on the stage to the natural light pouring
through the side of a tent entrance, is brilliant to work with.
When smoke machines are used inside the large stage tent,
look for sunlight streaks coming through the door for an
atmospheric result. Try to find people in the crowd that
will make good silhouettes. The way this woman’s
hat breaks the light really adds to the image.

Look to capture
something unique
It’s very easy to head to a
festival and want to get to the front of
the stage for the money shots of the
bands. However, you’re missing a trick
if that’s all you do. Look for unique images
that no one else would have found. This
image shows a man simply checking his
mobile phone, but the light at that exact
moment turned into this blue effect,
leaving a rather unique result.
