Warm up to the season and add some

drama to your scenes, with summer hints,

tips and tutorials from Lauren Scott

hen summer’s balmy months roll
around, they provide a cornucopia
of shooting inspiration. The days
are long, which doesn’t bode well
for late risers, but does mean
more photo opportunities throughout the
day – plus the chance to shoot well into the
evening if you’re at work around midday.
In this feature, we’ll be looking at creative ways
to photograph the golden season, when the days

seem to last forever and the sun (in our memory,
at least) seems to be eternally shining.
Of course, we all know that bright sunshine
can play havoc with landscape photography,
with high-contrast scenes often resulting in drab
colours and focal points. We also know that in
reality, summer offers up its share of unsunny,
cloudy and even stormy days – all of which can
make for dramatic photos, too. Wherever you
are, make the most of the season with our guide...
