STARTING WITH some of the more basic parts on these two mid-
range builds, we have the same PSUs being introduced. These are
Corsair’s 6 50W RM 80+ Gold power supplies, which provide more
than enough power for both of these builds. This change sees a
price decrease of $3 0 on the AMD side and $ 15 on the Intel machine,
Approximate Price: $1,53 8 or $2, 188 Approximate Price: $1,70 3 or $2,6 13

whilst providing the same wattage and efficiency. Another part we
see in both machines is an increase from 1TB of HDD to 2 TB with
WD’s Blue 7200 drive hitting a nice tasty sale down from $7 0 to $47!
Talking of sales, the AMD build gets a change of CPU cooler, a
limited-time promo on Newegg brings this larger 2 80mm cooler
down from $94 to a handsome $55. On the flip side, the CPU cooler
on the Intel PC has risen back up to $80. Still, it’s a solid cooler for
this price, so it stays. The CPUs on each build also remain and with
a sale on our Intel Core i7-1 17 00K, it is now a respectable $ 345
instead of $ 400 last issue. This brings it closer to AMD’s price for
its Ryzen 5 560 0X, but it’s still the cheaper of the two, even with a
recent $ 10 increase. These fluctuating prices are driving us crazy!
GPUs also drive us mad. You can pick up some 3 070s for a
minimum of $ 100 0, but that’s criminal. The same goes for the
Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU, which starts at an even heftier $ 150 0. In
slightly better news, we have a few price changes for the AMD build.
The trusty ASUS TUF Gaming X 570 mobo is still a great board and is
made even better by being $5 cheaper. Better still is the $ 7 drop for
the RAM sticks. It’s not much, but any decrease is welcome.
For Intel’s RAM, we have swapped out the Kingston FURY
Renegades for some Corsair Vengeance sticks. These are running
at the same speed (3600MHz) and give us some RGB. We had to
swap these out as, at the time of writing, we couldn’t find any of
the Fury Renegades that ran at 3 600MHz, only 3 200MHz. Finally,
the ASRock Z590M PRO4 mobo on team Intel was luckily in a sale,
bringing it down to $130. If only it stayed at this price.
