Translate into English the paragraphs about the United States and about Great Britain (2 and
6). Then note down all the occasions when French usage requires an article which you have
been able to omit in your English version.2 Fill in the gaps in the following sentences with articles or with de, or leave a blank where
necessary.

4 Rewrite the following sentences, putting the italicized nouns into the plural and remembering
that the plural indefinite article des is always omitted after the preposition de.
