Easy Knitting Projects chapter 14

MB (MAKE BOBBLE)
Knit into front, back, front, back,
and front (that’s five times) of stitch.
Then, without turning, pass fourth
st over fifth and off, third st over fifth
and off, second st over fifth and off,
and first st over fifth and off.

Pattern Stitches

BOBBLE BAG

1 CO 55 sts in A.

2 Work bobble st, starting at row 1, until piece measures approx 8 inches, ending
with a row 1, 2, 7, or 8 of patt.

3 BO sts in patt. Cut yarn, leaving a tail long enough to sew seam.

FINISHING

1 Weave in ends, except the one for sewing the side seam.

2 Lightly steam on WS to block and reduce curling.

3 Fold piece in half vertically, with RS facing each other, and sew side seam.
Lay piece flat and inside out, with seam at side, pin bottom edges together,
and sew bottom seam.

4 Turn RS out and steam seams.

5 With crochet hook and B, and starting at side seam, work 2 rows of single
crochet around top edge. Cut yarn, draw end through last loop, and weave in.

6 Make closure loop: With crochet hook and B, pick up a loop in middle of top
edge at seam, work a 3-inchchain, and reattach where you began to form the
loop. Secure and weave in ends. (Loop will fasten to the center front bobble at
the top edge.)

7 Make strap: Using a 3^1 ⁄ 2 -yard strand of each color, twist the two strands
together until quite firm. Then hold all 4 ends together and let the strands twist
again by themselves to create a shorter quadruple-strand cord.

8 Sew each end of the cord to a corner of the bag.
