BACK
1 With size 9 needles, CO 68 (72, 77, 78, 82, 87) sts.
2 Work ribbing as instructed for your st count for 3^1 ⁄ 2 inches, ending with
aWSrow.
3 Change to size 10^1 ⁄ 2 needles and work in St st until back measures 24 (24^1 ⁄ 2 ,
25, 26, 26^1 ⁄ 2 , 27) inches from beg, ending with a WS row.
4 Shape shoulders: BO 11 (12, 13, 13, 14, 15) sts beg next 2 rows, then 11
(12, 13, 13, 13, 14) beg foll 2 rows—24 (24, 25, 26, 28, 29) sts.
5 Place rem sts on a holder or spare needle.
FRONT
1 Work steps 1–3 as for back until front measures 21^1 ⁄ 2 (22, 22^1 ⁄ 2 , 23^1 ⁄ 2 , 24, 24)
inches from beg, ending with a WS row.
2 Shape neck: K across first 28 (30, 32, 32, 33, 35) sts. Turn and work on these
sts only (put rem sts on spare circular needle).
3 Working in St st, dec 1 st at neck edge every row, until 22 (24, 26, 26, 27, 29)
sts rem.
4 Work until left side of front measures 24 (24^1 ⁄ 2 , 25, 26, 26^1 ⁄ 2 , 27) inches from
beg, ending with a WS row.
5 Begin left shoulder shaping: BO 11 (12, 13, 13, 14, 15) sts beg this row,
k to end.
6 Next row (WS): Purl.

When the number of sts is a multiple of 5 sts plus 2, work ribbing as follows:
Row 1 (RS): P2, *k3, p2; rep from *to end.
Row 2 (WS): K2, *p3, k2; rep from *to end.

Row 1 (RS): K3, *p2, k3; rep from *to end.
