ROBBIE RAY
sp / blue jays
Ray, 30, emerged as the
AL Cy Young favorite after a
miserable 2020 campaign.
The lefty led the majors in
strikeouts (248) and the AL in
ERA (2.84). Only past control
issues could limit what he
gets in his next contract.
TREVOR STORY
ss / rockies
There’s a lot to like about Story:
power, speed, defense, durability.
His 2021 struggles coincided with
a dip in line drives, but he’s still
making hard contact. A mechanical
adjustment could be the remedy.
COREY SEAGER
ss / dodgers
It’s a tough pick between Seager
and Carlos Correa for the top
shortstop in a loaded class, but
Correa gets the nod since he’s the
far better defender. How long the
27-year-old Seager can remain at
short is a question that’s lingered
since before he reached the big
leagues: In 2021 he ranked near
the bottom at the position in outs
above average. Seager’s bat has
always played, though, particularly
over the last two years, when he
has hit .305/.381/.545 with
31 home runs in 147 games.
