essential skills: digital photography in available light

  1. Add description and keywords
By adding Metadata that is unique to each fi le, or selected fi les, we can identify the image with
something more descriptive or interesting than the fi le name (fi le names should be kept short
and contain no punctuation or spaces if they are to live on servers for viewing, distribution or
collection). Select one or more images in the folder and then enter a description in the Description
fi eld of the IPTC Core metadata.

Adding keywords helps you to locate images long after the specifi c locations of individual images
are forgotten. The use of keywords also allows you to gather images together from different shoots
to create new collections and increase the potential for each individual image, e.g. gathering
together a range of beach scenes at sunset from around the world to sell to a stock library years
after they were captured.
