Increasing the scale further, we reach weeks, indicated with. Like ,
on its own just refers to the yearly week, with referring to length of
duration as measured in weeks. The pronunciations are:


An example sentence would be:

”This year’s festival is in week 18.”

The words for the immediate past and future weeks are:

the week before last
last week
this week
next week
the week after next

Like , has to be followed by to turn it into a durational counter:


”The exams are in about two weeks.”

While western languages typically have named months, the Japanese – not
