Nick Latham and Sean Paul Nother are turning hairdressing
on its head. Forget settling in for a wash and blow-dry, a visit to
the pair’s Sydney Street salon in Chelsea involves washing your
hair at home the night before and letting it air dry. “If you get
your hair washed at the salon we don’t get a chance to see what
it is like naturally,” Nother says. “We want to work with your
natural texture to create the best version of your own hair.”
Instead of wasting time having your hair washed and blow-
dried, you’ll learn how to style it so that “you’ll love your hair as
much at home as you do in the salon”. The boys (not actual
brothers) bonded over their “obsession” with hair while
working in the blow-dry bar at Hershesons and set up the Hair
Bros as an Instagram mood board. The page quickly developed
a loyal following of hair obsessives; when their salon opened
this April bookings sold out in days. “There were girls travelling
down from Derby for a haircut — it was mad!” The salon itself
is like stepping into your stylish friend’s lounge, and A-listers
such as Ellie Goulding and Suki Waterhouse are already fans of
the boys’ personalised cuts. If you want an appointment with
either of the talented duo you’ll have to be quick or get into one
of the WhatsApp groups that have been set up by clients to nab
spots. The Hair Bros are fast becoming the Glastonbury of the
hairdressing world. Verity Clark

Baz Luhrmann’s eagerly anticipated Elvis biopic hits
screens in June, but don’t be surprised if it’s not Austin
Butler’s turn as the lip-quivering crooner that has us all
talking. The Melbourne-born Olivia DeJonge, 23, is
poised to be the breakout star of the musical with a
scene-stealing performance as Elvis’s long-suffering
wife, Priscilla. “It really was an experience like no
other,” DeJonge tells Style of working with the Moulin
Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet director. “It was amazing.
He’s a mad genius and also very kind.”Helping DeJonge
get into character were the costumes, created by
Luhrmann’s Oscar-winning designer wife, Catherine
Martin. “Catherine can do no wrong,” says DeJonge,
who previously starred in Netflix’s The Society and
M Night Shyamalan’s horror flick The Visit. While
DeJonge found herself the subject of tabloid gossip
during filming — she and Butler were linked
romantically but he is now reported to be dating
Lily-Rose Depp — she is letting her work do the
talking. After Elvis she will appear alongside Colin
Firth, Toni Colette and Sophie Turner in the true crime
drama series The Staircase. “I think I’ve watched nearly
every true crime show out there,” she says. “I don’t
think I’d make a decent detective, though — I have a
pretty weak stomach.” OG
