WHY BRISTOL CITY?
My dad was a
Bournemouth fan, but
we grew up in Bristol
and he believed in
following the local
team and took steps to
encourage me to do it.
At the time, Rovers
were playing in Bath
which was 12 miles
away. So City it was.

EARLY MEMORIES
New Year’s Day, 1987, a
Bristol derby at Ashton
Gate. A dreadful game.
We had uncles down
and they decided to go.
I was pretty vocal that I
should, too. We lost 1-0,
but I didn’t mind — I
was hooked. After that,
Dad took me and my

MY

CLUB

MY FAVOURITE PLAYER
Flying winger Scott
Murray. At Ninian Park,
he was one of the first
to cup his ear to the
home fans and even
now fans post memes
of it. He’d take people
on, then go back and
beat them again,
unnecessarily. He’s the
kitman now. I’ve met
him and he’s always
been lovely to me, but I
can’t get past him
being Scott Murray.

MY LEAST FAVOURITE
PLAYER
Greg Goodridge. Just
after he arrived, he
scored twice against
Luton and with every
touch we thought,
‘We’ve signed a world
beater.’ Then he wasn’t
even in the team. He
must have been one of
those who didn’t train
well or apply himself. I
still think we missed
out on something.

NIGEL PEARSON:
A GOOD FIT?
I’m pro-Pearson. It was
a shambles when he
came in and he does
appear to have
breathed fire into the
players. The club needs
a long slow rebuild and
he has a track record of
doing that. He must be
given total licence.

HOW CAN CITY MAKE
THE LEAP OUT OF THE
CHAMPIONSHIP?
We’ve seen Adam
Webster, Joe Bryan,
Bobby Reid etc, etc, etc
sold on. I accept that,
but not to rivals who
are barely bigger. Next
time we have a team
with a genuine shot, we
have to ringfence them
and go for it.

Pearson is doing well

brother, but he found
City losing funny... ‘Oh
dear, a bit bad today’. I
couldn’t bear that.

BEST OF TIMES
The 2004 play-off semi
second leg against
Hartlepool. We
equalised in the last
minute and won in
added time. We walked
through the Hartlepool
fans afterwards, as
sheepish as we were
cock-a-hoop.

WORST OF TIMES
The 2004 play-off final
against Brighton. Both
teams were awful. They
won it with a penalty
and it was a classic City
choke. I’m still jealous
of Brighton: they’re
living our life.
