2.2.6 Working stresses for steel piles


BS8004 requires steel for piles to conform to BS4360 Grades 43A, 50B, ‘or other grades
to the approval of the engineer’. The code limits the compression working stresses on
tubular, box, and H-section piles, in steel conforming to BS4360, to 30% of yield strength
