4.3.10
At NATURAL and MANUFACTURED STONE:
4.3.10.1 EXPOSED EDGES shall be finished the same as the top surface.

ASSEMBLY
4.4.1 ADHESIVEsmoothness. or JOINT FILLER material, if used, shall be inconspicuous and match the adjacent surface for
4.4.2 SQUARENESS shall be within ±1/64” (0.4 mm) for each 12” (305 mm).
4.4.3 CUTOUTS shall be within ±1/8” for locations and +1/8” to 0” (3.2 to 0 mm) for size.
4.4.4 SIZE shall be within ± 1/8” (3.2 mm) in length and ±1/16” (1.6 mm) in width.
4.4.5 TOPS requiring more than one sheet of surface material shall be prematched to minimize color
variation within the scope of the manufacturer's guarantee and:

4.4.5.1 Shall be fabricated from the longest lengths available. MM
4.4.5.2 Top widths exceeding product availability shall have manufacturer-assembled joints.
4.4.6 FILLERS shall be furnished by the countertop manufacturer.
4.4.7 SEQUENCE of all edge applications shall be the manufacturer’s option, except at HPDL.
4.4.8 REMOVABLE LEDGES and/or ACCESS PANELS shall be attached with flat-head screws, set flush, and:
4.4.8.1 If CHEMICAL RESISTANCE is required, screws shall be stainless steel.

J O I N T S
Of JOINTS at ASSEMBLED work shall:
4.4.9.1 Be neatly and accurately made.
4.4.9.2 Be SECURELY GLUED, with:
4.4.9.2.1 ADHESIVE residue removed from all exposed and semi-exposed surfaces.
4.4.9.3 Be REINFORCED with glue blocks where essential.
4.4.9.4 NOT PERMIT fasteners at exposed surfaces of HPDL or overlay sheet products.
4.4.9.5 Require EDGEBANDING to be flush with adjacent surfaces not to exceed:
4.4.9.5.1 0.010" (0.25 mm). M
4.4.9.5.2 0.005" (0.13 mm). M
4.4.9.5.3 0.003" (0.03 mm). M
4.4.9.6 Allows FILLER material:
4.4.9.6.1 If inconspicuous when viewed at 72" (1829 mm). M
4.4.9.6.2 If inconspicuous when viewed at 48" (1219 mm). M
4.4.9.6.3 If inconspicuous when viewed at 24” (610 mm). M
4.4.10 OVERHANG shall be:
4.4.10.1 CONSISTENT, within a minimum of 1/2” (12.7 mm) and a maximum of 1-1/4” (31.8 mm) of cabinet
face and/or finished end, and:
4.4.10.1.1 Be within 3/8” (9.5 mm) of parallel per elevation.
4.4.10.2
If specified, a continuous DRIP GROOVE 1/8” x 1/8” (3.2 x 3.2 mm), approximately 3/8” (9.5 mm) in
from the front edge, shall be provided.
4.4.11 UNSUPPORTED countertop SPANS shall not exceed 48” (1219 mm), and they shall be reinforced to prevent
deflection in excess of 1/4” (6.4 mm) under a 50 lbs (22.7 kg) per square foot (kgs per 305 mm square) load.
4.4.12 EXPOSED EDGES:
4.4.12.1 Shall be neatly and entirely covered.
4.4.12.2 Shall be eased.
4.4.12.3 FRONT EDGES shall be built up to a minimum of 1-1/4" (31.8 mm) in thickness, except at epoxy.
