retain both graduate students and faculty candidates, would strengthen our capacity to develop a more
diverse university and department.
Strategies to address this problem, as outline in our department’s Long Rang Plan, are:
· Explicitly address diversity of hiring at each step of the committee process.
· Ensure composition of search committees is balanced as far as practicable (tenure, gender).
· Utilize other campus resources (e.g. CTE, Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion) to assist us in
the process of enhancing diversity.
