DENON AH-C 830 NCW
£ 139 , denon.com
Denon becomes the latest notable audio
company to dip its toe into the warm waters of
true wireless ear buds. Its initial IPX4-rated
offering consists of the £ 89 AH-C630W and
these upgraded buds, which up the average
playback time from 4 .5 to 6 hours on a charge,
boost the longevity with in-case charges from
18 to 24 hours, and add ANC into the mix. We
don’t know how good the hybrid noise
cancelling is yet, but we know this: the company
has apparently employed extensive ear canal
simulations in designing its soundstage. Also
off-the-shelf solutions for ANC are incredibly
strong these days, these include three mics per
ear – two external and a third in the ear canal
- and (critically) there are few companies we’d
trust more than Denon to get it tuned just so.
T 3 SAYS: The true wireless market isn’t short on
choice, is it?
TASCAM PORTACAPTURE

£TBC, tascam.com
Field recorders have changed, so whether
you’re recording your latest demo, building a
sample library, or producing a podcast on the
bus you should know there’s something better
out there – particularly if you’re using your
phone. Tascam’s beefy boy is an audio
powerhouse. It backs up its detachable twin
condenser mics with phantom-powered XLR
inputs, eight-track recording, 3 2-bit 192kHz
support, and a built-in DSP that acts as a
compressor, limiter, low-pass and more. It
seems glib to use the term ‘studio in a box’ but
it doesn’t take too much creative thinking to
see how it applies here – and the six recording
modes, which automatically set it up to capture
everything from music to ASMR, mean you
don’t even need your own engineer.
T 3 SAYS: This levels the recording playing field.
