Apple has invested a lot of
timein improving its core iOS
productivity apps recently.
Last issue, wereviewed the
updated iMovie app. Now
Apple has released major
updates for its iWork apps –
Pages, Numbers andKeynote
- all of which receive lots of
useful new features. Rather
than single one of themout,
we’ve made the wholesuite
App(s) of the Fortnight.
Pages, the suite’s word
processor, gains dozens of
tools, including new text
styles, customisable bullet
points, improved chart-
making tools andthe ability
to copy andpaste entire pages between documents.
Numbers, the spreadsheet app, has an all-new 128-bit
calculation engine for improved accuracy. The update also
adds new chart-editing capabilities that let you change the
style of individual elements, adjust spacing between
columns, addtrendlines andmore.
The latest version of Keynote, Apple’s presentation tool,
offers enhanced support for collaboration, so you can now
edit master slides while working on
your presentation with others.
All three apps benefit from
improved support for Apple
Pencil. If you have an iPad, you can
use Pencil as a drawing tool or for
selecting text andscrolling – a
quick double-tap toggles
between the two options.
A new Learn Spelling feature
lets you addwords to the
spelling dictionary across all
three apps, while an interesting
face detection feature helpsyou
place photos in documents,
spreadsheets or presentations,
positioning themautomatically
so that people’s faces can be
seen clearly.
To complement
the revamp, the
macOSversions of
all three iWork apps have been updated, too.
