Smart Buildings Systems for Architects, Owners and Builders

(ff) #1

The project by the State of Missouri demonstrates the positive financial
effects of integrated building systems and actionable information. The opera-
tional cost effects follow:

n Integrated and automated approach to energy use analysis and man-
agement and facility equipment maintenance management
n Enterprise-level information, presented in real time in dashboard views
n Sophisticated analytical tools that can correlate date from different
systems and analyze a system, building or enterprise level
n Integration of stand-alone facility systems into a common information-
based managed network
n Capability to react to changing consumption and weather variables
n Immediate fault detection and diagnostics, thus shortening the time
between recommissioning of systems, resulting in enhanced system
performance
n Centralized and decentralized (via the Web) access in a secure environ-
ment for energy and maintenance management applications, giving
information visibility to technicians, managers, and executives
n Integration with other business systems such as asset management,
space utilization, work order automation, conditions assessment, and
capital planning
n Visibility into older facilities that prior to deployment was impossible
n Improved thermal comfort for building occupants, resulting in less
work orders and increased occupant productivity
