February 13, 1939Thanks for description. I am trying to translate it with the
help of an Austrian teacher. Even he cannot translate all the terms. I
must get a science dictionary Eng-Deutsch, for your words are not in
the ordinary dictionary.
I could easily get what you sent published in The Lancet, but you
don't want that, do you? In your place I should do it, so as to have
printed proof that the Bione was your discovery. You will find that
other men will steal your ideas and publish them. I told you that the
Lancet is the high-class medical journal of England. And such a
publication would very likely be of great value to you if you were to
seek entrance into England, or even to America. What do you say?
Overcome that anti-publicity complex of yours.

February 25, 1939Congratulations on your latest discovery, but I am worried
about your eyes. Is there no protection that will keep out radium rays
on the microscope? You must find one.
I got an answer from the Lancet asking me to come and see the
editor when in London. I shall be going up next week for I must consult
someone about my eyes. The conjunctivitis gets worse and worse daily.
Wells has been in Australia and has just come home. I hope to see
him next week too.
I can find no English translation for Zeitraffung. Slow motion photo
isn't the translation and there is no word for the opposite. Also
Rasenformig is unknown here. My Austrian lad says "shaped like turf
or lawn." It is hell trying to translate scientific German.
I'll be able to say soon if I can come over to Oslo at Easter. Much
depends on my eyes. I have no faith in specialists who simply give
