Macro Photography

I once wanted to do a photo of a Christmas tree bulb – showing a specific reflection – without
unwanted reflections of the surrounding area. Trust me, it was a nightmare. The sphere acted like
a wide angle lens and showed EVERYTHING within about 260 degrees!

I managed to get tons of photos of myself peering through the camera viewfinder, photos of my
living room, my windows, bookcase, lights – everything!

Finally, I used a modified light tent and solved the problem. It was my first adventure using a
light tent – and I have to say that I learned a lot!

I can highly recommend trying to shoot (reflection free) photos of Christmas tree bulbs or other
curved glass surfaces if you want to learn how well you are able to deal with frustration.

Just kidding...It’s a lot of fun and is a great learning experience. It makes a great project for the
next time you are stuck in the house on a rainy day.
