Chapter 7 : Miscellaneous Equipment
When we think of doing macro/close-up photography, we generally think of spending a pleasant
day in the sun – snapping off a shot or two – and basking in the glory of praise for our stunning
photos.
Weeeel...
While all of that can happen, there are some other factors that need to be considered:
Generally, when we find a location that we think will have some good subjects to shoot, we will
have to hunt around for a while.
Finding that dew covered spider-web, or that perfectly formed rosebud sometimes takes a
substantial amount of time.
“Well, that’s OK.” You’re probably thinking. “After all, it is a fun hobby and I WANT to spend
some time doing it!”
So do I, but there are a few challenges.
Clothing
Don’t forget that while you are traipsing around through the dew soaked field - looking for that
dew covered flower or spider-web - you are going to get your shoes wet!
It’s no fun to spend the rest of the day in wet shoes! While sneakers may be more comfortable,
you are going to want a good pair of water-resistant hiking boots.
Plus, boots are a good idea because they can offer some protection from the creepy-crawly,
slithery things that might think of you as lunch. You’ll be thankful for the protection if you ever
step on a snake that was dozing in the sun and didn’t hear you coming.
