Nat: Apex Legends has always been
good. Of the big battle royales, it’s
the best one if you just want to pick a
good fight, blending solid gunplay and
wild abilities with just the right amount
of Titanfall’s hectic movement. But
last year saw Apex truly come into its
own as a confident successor to
Respawn’s wallrunner.
Olympus is far and away the game’s
best (and prettiest) map to date. Arenas
provide a tense, tactical, 3v3 alternative
to battle royale. And the game’s cast
has only gotten better and better,
particularly with the long-overdue
addition of Scottish people to the roster.
In 2021, Apex Legends isn’t just a
good battle royale. It’s probably the best
competitive shooter you can play today.
