First, you gain confidence in God’s sovereignty through
your own experiences with Him. They are indisputable proof to
you, as they are to me, that God is able to save, that He is
trustworthy, all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-wise.
A second way to bolster your belief in God’s sovereignty is
to study, review, and research the Bible for yourself. For
example, if you yearly read the Bible from cover to cover, your
knowledge of God will become your own, not based on what
others have told you the Bible says. The more you study
God’s Word, the more clearly you will recognize His voice, and
the more prone you will be to believe in God’s sovereignty
rather than chance or luck.
Another method I’ve used to increase my understanding of
God is to both memorize and meditate on individual verses in
the Bible, such as this passage in Zephaniah 3:17:
For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. (NLT)
I encourage you to hold on to, and even post in plain view,
any verses that encourage your faith, deepen your love, or
bolster your confidence in the God who loves you.
Throughout the Bible, hundreds of written conversations
between God and His followers are recorded, and the outcomes
of their lives are on display. The two-way conversations
between God and Daniel, David, Jesus, and Mary are
