taught, “We can accomplish more by time and strength put
into prayer than we can by putting the same amount of time
and strength into anything else.” 5
There was a time when I didn’t believe that time alone with
God—talking and listening to Him—released more of God’s
power than physical activity until I began to spend one hour a
day with Him. After each daily appointment, I would come
away with a to-do list that concisely ordered my day into a
blueprint for completing tasks and projects. Simultaneously, I
found myself repeatedly saying to family and co-workers, “You
won’t believe what God did today! You won’t believe what I
heard God tell me to do!” I never wrote a book, never traveled
to speak outside of the state I lived in, never filmed a video or
spoke at a crusade until I developed the discipline of making
and keeping daily appointments with God.
Don’t take my word for it. Try it yourself.

nook or chair in your home; is it by the fireplace, outside on a
porch, near water or woods, or at a park? (Take into

Second, determine the amount of time you want to spend
talking and listening to God: ten or fifteen minutes, thirty or
