Let God Talk to You: When You Hear Him, You Will Never Be the Same

Jesus’ teaching in Luke 8:4–15 is especially encouraging to
me—someone who is extremely passionate about daily Bible
reading. Jesus gives His take on the importance of letting the
Word of God talk to you. He points out that breezing through
the Word won’t produce the benefits that retaining it through
perseverance will provide. I find the teaching very relevant and
current to today.


If you read the Word and hold on to it:
You’ll be very productive.
You won’t listen to the devil’s lies.
You won’t fall away after testing.
You won’t be choked by life’s pressures, treasures,
and pleasures.
Take any favorite verse, passage, parable, or teaching and
regularly do the same thing: identify metaphors and/or observe
a theme. Better yet, follow this simple idea daily to gain more
insight into your regular, planned Bible reading.


To-Do’s


In addition to following a two-way pattern of talking and
listening to God through these nine tabbed sections of My
Partner Prayer Notebook, there is one final section in which I
let God talk to me. In a very informal but important To-Do
section, I jot down any ideas that God gives me during my
hourly appointment with Him each day. I have found that if I
write down the most insignificant thoughts or random ideas
that pop into my mind at any time during my “God Talks,” I will
undoubtedly save money or time, or even my own reputation,
