Let God Talk to You: When You Hear Him, You Will Never Be the Same

certain death. Yet according to the law of the land, the king had
to follow through with the orders to cast Daniel—who would
not bow down in worship to anyone but his God—into the
lion’s den. The king held out hope that Daniel might still be
alive after a night in the den with lions and rushed to the site
the next morning. When the king called down into the den
looking for Daniel, he asked, “Daniel, servant of the living God!
Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue
you from the lions?” Daniel answered, “My God sent his angel
to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me”
(Daniel 6:20–22 NLT).
The king of Babylon at the time, Darius, was so impressed
with Daniel’s God that he sent a message to “the people of
every race and nation and language throughout the world:

“I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble

with fear before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, and he

will endure forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed, and his rule

will never end. He rescues and saves his people; he performs

miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. He has

rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

And that’s just a little background information. Today, as
I’m reading in the sixth chapter of Daniel, I ask myself, “What
do I feel, think, or understand as I read these passages?” I’m
inspired to believe in the God of the Bible who does miracles.
And I’m reminded that God is with those who call on His name,
who align themselves with Him, who follow His ways even
when others—sometimes even a majority—do not.

So is this passage in Daniel about me or does it promise an
