- Dr. Sookhdeo lists various different kinds of jihadi violence. Among
these is the violence inflicted by jihadis against other Muslims whom the
jihadi thinks have become apostates or dissenters. Patrick Sookhdeo,
Understanding Islamic Terrorism, 2004, Pewsey, p.59. A prime
example of this in the UK was a jihadi who drove across Britain to kill a
Muslim he had never even met but whom the jihadi concluded was not
sufficiently Muslim. “Man who murdered Glasgow shopkeeper Asad
Shah in sectarian attack jailed”, The Guardian, 9 Aug 2016,
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/aug/09/tanveer-ahmed-
jailed-for-murder-glasgow-shopkeeper-in-sectarian-attack. At the same
time, another example in the UK was an imam in Rochdale who was
murdered by other Muslims because they thought some of his religious
behaviour was un-Islamic. “Jalal Uddin murder: Syeedy guilty over
Rochdale imam death”, BBC, 16 Sept 2016,
