- For example, W. Montgomery Watt, one of Britain’s top experts on Islam
in the latter half of the twentieth century, wrote a book entitled
Muhammad: Prophet and Statesman (London, 1961). It is simply
inconceivable that anyone could have written a book about Jesus or
Buddha as a statesman: unlike Mohammed, the interests of the founders
of those other religions were purely spiritual. Created a thousand years
after the death of Buddha, five hundred years after the death of Jesus,
Mohammed’s new religion merged religion and politics and war (unlike
those two real religions). ↵
