Tank Sediment
▪ This example was taken before dawn due
to emissivity issues with the sun’s heat
radiating off the tank wall during daylight
hours.
▪ Here we can 1) check the tank’s level, 2)
verify that the steam agitation system is
functioning, and 3) approximate the
sediment level at the bottom of the tank.
In some processes, “sediment” is actually
product, so we can see how much product
is being lost as a result of turbulent flow
through the vessel.
