ON THE FENCE
Kip and Whitney are fencing in the
SI KIDS Treehouse using épées. Whitney
lunges at Kip and makes contact with the
tip of her weapon near Kip’s chest. At
seemingly the exact same time that
Whitney hits him, however, Kip touches
Whitney’s arm with the blade of his sword.
Though Kip was seemingly on the
defensive, a computer confirms they hit
within 1/50th of a second of each other.

BAD BOUNCE
defenseman Tomi Koivuline at center ice, he decides to
dump the puck into the
Shrews’ zone. Before the puck
hits the ice, however, it is
batted out of the air by Tampere
defenseman Kari Salo, who isin his zone. The puck flies into the crowd
without touching the glass or another player.
Helsinki calls for a delay-of-game penalty.
Salo argues he merely deflected Koivu’s
dump-in. Is there a penalty?GET
punt. The ball sails over the head of the Robins’
returner and begins to roll toward their end
zone. Penguins gunner Otis Tasker sprints down
the field. He runs all the way to Reynoldsville’s
end zone, crossing the goal line, then comes
back out when he sees the ball coming.
Standing with both feet on the 1 -yard line, he
stops the ball with his hands at his opponent’s
2-yard line. The Robins argue that because
Tasker had already entered the end zone, it’s a
touchback. You’re the referee.
