record every bite, it will help you resist that habit.
I also love the idea of meal mapping: You write down what you’re going to
eat that day before you get started. It’s sort of like an exercise-training
programme; you devise a plan and you aim to stick to it. Decisions no longer get
made in the heat of the moment, and you can look at the day as a whole, fitting
in as many food FIXES as possible.
For either method, pen and paper or a computer document works just fine.
Many smartphone apps, like MyFitnessPal and Fooducate, make it easy to
record your daily intake. To me, it’s not about counting calories, per se, but more
about having an awareness of things that you may not even realize you’re
consuming throughout the day. I recommend trying it for two weeks, but you
may find you like journaling and make it a lifelong habit.
