SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SOURCES: SNACK
EDITION
It would be nice to have a stress-bypass operation that could cure bodies of
life’s mental clogs and the cravings that come with them. No such luck, so
you need foods that satisfy hankerings without the body damage of classic
fast-grab snacks. Be prepared with a satisfying alternative that will help
you maintain energy levels. Some ideas for when a mood strikes (see more
snack ideas in chapter 3):
Cheesy: Popcorn tossed with nutritional yeast. It hits the spot for fewer
calories than a block of cheddar (or a box of highlighter-orange crackers).
Creamy: Plain Greek yoghurt with a drop of vanilla extract and some
blueberries on top. Simple and rich-tasting.
Crunchy: Roasted chickpeas. (You can make them yourself or buy them
prepackaged at the grocery store.) They’re high in protein, and a smart
substitute when you’re jonesing for chips.
