brown   rice    syrup,  and convenience foods   with    sugar   on  their   ingredients lists.  It
tends   to  sneak   into    foods   you might   not think   of  as  sweet—check the label   on
products     like    tomato  sauce,  yoghurt,    even    salsa.  (Starting   in  July    2018,   food
companies   will    be  required    to  list    added   sugars  on  their   labels, but until   then,
you  need    to  read    the     ingredients     list    to  be  sure.   And     remember    that    sugar
sometimes   disguises   itself  on  food    labels—look out for syrups; words   that    end in
“-ose”   like    maltose,    dextrose,   sucrose;    the     word    “cane”;     and     fruit   juice.  The

attention   to  sneaky  sugar   sources will    help    you unlearn the craving and retrain
your    taste   buds.   By  the end of  the process,    you may be  surprised   to  discover    that
foods    that    you     once    found   delicious   now     seem    overly  sweet.  But     a   slice   of
