THE NAMES OF THOSE ATBADR ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY

THE LETTER ALIF.
Ubayy b. Ka'b al-Najjari, leader of alQurra'; al-Arqam b. Abii al-Arqam; Abii
al-Arqam CAbd Manaf b. Asad b. 'Abd Allah b. Wmar b. Makhziim
al-Makhziimi; As'ad b. Yazid b. al-Fakih b. Yazid b. Khalda b. 'Amir b.
alLCAjlan.
Aswad b. Zayd b. Tha'laba b. Wbayd b. Gbanm - Miisa b. Wqba gave the
same. Al-Umawi said, "There is doubt over Sawwad b. Rim b. Thaqaba b.
Wbayd b. 'Adi." Salama b. al-Fad1 stated, quoting Ibn Ishnq, that the name was
Sawwad b. Zurayq b. Tha'laba. Ibn 'A'idh gave it as Sawwad b. Zayd.
Usayr b. CAmr al-An~w Abii Salic, also known as Usayr b. CAmr b. Umayya
b. Lawdhm b. Sali b. Thabit al-Khazraji; Miisa b. Wqba did not mention him.
Anas b. Qatada b. Rabi'a b. Khalid b. al-Harith al-Awsi, also so named by
Miisa b. 'Uqba, though al-Umawi named him Anis in his biography (of the
Prophet (SAAS)).
I comment that Anas b. Malik was the servant of the Messenger of God
(SAAS) according to the account of Wmar b. Shabba al-Numayri. Muhammad
b. 'Abd Allah al-An$%i related to us, from his father, from Thumama b. Anas,
who said, "Anas b. Malik was asked whether he had been present at Badr, and
that he replied, 'Where would I have been, to be absent from Badr, may you be
motherless!"'
Muhammad b. Sacd stated, "Muhammad b. 'Abd All& al-An~ari informed
us, my father related to us, from a freed-man of Anas b. Mdik, that the latter
asked Anas whether he had been present at Badr. He replied, 'May you be
motherless, where would I have been, to be absent from Badr?"'
Muhammad b. 'Abd Allah al-Ansari stated, "Anas b. Malik went forth to Badr
with the Messenger of God (SAAS) as a servant in service to him."
Our teacher, the sheikh and ha$? Aba al-Hajjaj al-Mizzi stated in his tahdhib,
his educational text, "Thus al-An@ri stated, but none of the authors of the works
on the military expeditions said this."

Ghanm b. 'Awf b. al-Khazraj al-Khazraji. Mnsn b. Wqba gave his name as Aws
b. CAbd Allah b. al-Hnrith b. Khawli. Aws b. al-Samit al-Khazraji, brother of
Wbada b. al-S%mit; Iyyns b. al-Bukayr b. CAbd Ydil b. Nashib b. Ghayra b. Sa'd
b. Layth b. Bakr, ally of the Banii 'Adi b. Ka'b.
