ConnieGreen.com was owned by someone else when I
came online. It was right around that time that I decided to
start using my middle name – Ragen – as part of my
business name. I first decided to do this when I moved to
Santa Clarita in 2006. I had been living in the city of Los
Angeles previously, but when I moved to Santa Clarita I
was then in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles
County. I applied for a library card at the county library
and was turned down flat. The librarian accused me of not
returning my books on time, something I had never done.
(You can only imagine my embarrassment when they
thought that I, a former classroom teacher and great
proponent of books and reading, had overdue library
books!). It turned out she had mixed me up with another
Connie Green who had lived in the same general area
where I was now living. On that day I officially became
Connie Ragen Green, a decision that has served me well for
all of these years.

The next year the Connie Green who owned that domain
contacted me to offer it for sale for a thousand dollars, but
I turned it down because I was now branding myself using
my full legal name. The following year she let it go, and I
picked it up for less than ten dollars. The way I was able to
do this was by placing what is called a 'back order' on the
domain through GoDaddy.com. They alerted me when the
domain expired through the original registrar and that's
how I knew when I could go in and purchase it.
