Dialect Poetry of Southern Italy (Italian Poetry in Translation Book 2)

(Marcin) #1
(Cont.d)

Earth, I hear you,
O flagellated earth.
But I have no voice
to answer you,
nor can I move a step to go back.
And your voice, sad, insistent,
calling me from afar,
wounds me like the point of a knife.
