Russo have become more numerous and the
publication of his works (often ill-conceived
and improvised) has created a new,
revitalized interest which is establishing
some order and disciplining a subject matter
already varied and confused in itself due to
the ease with which the author commented
on different topics. As for the dialect, Luigi
Reina remarks: “Without wishing to take up
the well-known distinction between
reflected dialect literature and spontaneous
dialect literature, it must be noted how for
Russo dialect was almost a sort of restoration
of primitive, elementary language, with
norms of its own, autonomous with respect
