Allah gave the women the right to inherit in the following verse:
- From what is left by parents and those nearest related there is a share for men
and a share for women, whether the property be small or large,-a determinate
share.
[Quran, the Women Verse 7]
Islam also encouraged the practice of marrying the widow and the divorcee
- If any of you die and leave widows behind, they shall wait concerning
themselves four months and ten days: When they have fulfilled their term, there is
no blame on you if they dispose of themselves in a just and reasonable manner. And
Allah is well acquainted with what ye do. - There is no blame on you if ye make an offer of betrothal or hold it in your
hearts. Allah knows that ye cherish them in your hearts: But do not make a secret
contract with them except in terms Honorable, nor resolve on the tie of marriage till
the term prescribed is fulfilled. And know that Allah Knoweth what is in your hearts,
and take heed of Him; and know that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing. [Quran,
the Cow Verse 234-235]
- An encouragement to do good deeds in all of its forms;
- O ye who believe! bow down, prostrate yourselves, and adore your Lord; and do
good; that ye may prosper.
[Quran, the Pilgrimage Verse 77]
- Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to
parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a
word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. - And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: "My Lord!
bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood."
[Quran, the Ascension Verse 77]
- It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is
righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book,
and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for
orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of
slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfill the contracts
which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity,
and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah. fearing.
