But there are those who deny even to God this
abilityto readthe future. The factthatthe future
isamysterytoman,is noreason forustosay that
God cannot foreknow. But if God did not know
allthatis coming,Hewouldnotbe ableto promise
anythingto His creatures. Because God foreknows
allthings. Heisableto saytousjustwhatHecan
andwill do.
Any onewho has even a fair knowledge of the
Bible, knows thatGod reads and makes known the
comingevents. WhenNebuchadnezzarwasthinking
about the days to come, God revealed to him in a
dream the whole future history of the world, in a
condensed form. Concisely and graphically, by six
boldoutlinestrokesofthemaster'sbrush,asitwere,
the whole future was painted: first Babylon; then
Medo-Persia;nextGrecia;followingthat,Rome;and
afterRome,thedividedempire; andlastof all,the
great stone cutout of the mountain without hand,
destroying the image, becoming a great mountain
fillingthewholeearth—thislastatokenofthatever-
lastingkingdom whichGodwill eventuallysetup to
crownandendthehistoryoftheworld.
Allthegreat propheciesofthe Bible—the whole
bookofRevelation, forexample—portraythefuture.
With so many of these prophecies already fulfilled.
