u Phyllis Kuykendall, M.Photog.Cr., CPP, wanted a digital painting that was classic and

timeless. She’d known her three subjects for years and asked them to arrive with wavy

hair and makeup applied. Kuykendall provided the dresses. The image was digitally

painted in Adobe Photoshop CC using the mixer brush. Lilly Blue Photography is based

in Fort Worth, Texas, and specializes in high school seniors, newborn, and volume pho-

• EXPOSURE: 1/100 second at f/11, ISO 100


• LIGHTING: She used a Profoto D1 500 Air with a Profoto RFi 5-foot soft box for
  the main and two Profoto Compact 600s with Profoto 1x4-foot strip boxes with
  grids for the rim light.


• POST-CAPTURE: Kuykendall digitally painted in Adobe Photoshop CC 2017,
  placed the subject on the right quadrant for composition, and did some color
  balancing using a brush in color mode to add color in Photoshop.
