20 Acidic Wastes: The Real Culprit

Nutrition for the Grain Eater
If you are a grain eater (sympathetic dominant), you are defi cient in
stomach acid and therefore break down protein too slowly. You should
eat generous portions of the foods that the parasympathetic dominant
should eat very little of. Besides grains, the sympathetic dominant does
well on fowl and fi sh. Generous amounts of potassium will help lower the
high calcium levels of the sympathetic dominant and speed up the burn-
ing of fuels. Also take more of those nutrients—niacin, magnesium, folic
acid, and vitamin C—that break down fast. Unlike the parasympathetic-
dominant meat eater, the sympathetic-dominant grain eater can eat large
amounts of green, leafy vegetables; fruit; broccoli; potatoes; and onions.
The grain eater’s sluggish digestion demands that he or she take slow-
digesting nutrients such as choline and B 15 in small amounts.

Food Allergies
Finding your metabolic type and following up with an appropriate diet
doesn’t always do away with health problems because it’s possible to be
allergic to foods even though they’re suited to your metabolic type. For
example, I’m a meat eater but am allergic to calcium and most of the B
vitamins, as well as carrot juice, all food items recommended for the
parasympathetic, meat-eating metabolism.

the city. A few minutes after she fi nished eating the steak, her lips
began to burn and her tongue swelled up so much she said later
she felt like someone had stuffed a golf ball in her mouth. A
neighbor rushed her to the hospital where she went into
anaphylactic shock. Her circulation had slowed so much it caused
a sudden drop in her blood pressure, and her pulse could barely
be detected. A steroid hormone injection saved her life. The
cause of her near death turned out to be the vitamin C
preservative in the meat.
Caroline had unusually high acid levels in her stomach even for
someone with a meat eater’s metabolism. Her already excessive
stomach acid levels, increased by the acidity of vitamin C, caused
her to go into shock.
