Ridding Your Body of Acidic Wastes 35
Devices to Detoxify the Body
Long before the advent of modern medicine, cultures developed ways to
detoxify the body, some of which are still in use today. Indians in the
western hemisphere used sweat lodges; one reservation in North Dakota
has begun using them again. The Japanese still use hot baths, as do the
Greeks, who in ancient times purged themselves seasonally with colon-
ics and regurgitation. While the Scandinavians developed saunas similar
to the Indian sweat lodges, the central Europeans used highly mineral-
ized waters and clay wraps to draw the toxins out of the body. Spas are
still popular. Until a few years ago, in Germany everyone past sixty-fi ve
got two six-week vacations at a spa paid for by the government.
Magnetic and Far Infrared Mattress Pads
Modern technology has made possible the invention of devices for rid-
ding the body of toxins that are far more convenient than many tradi-
tional detoxifying practices because they can be used in the course of the
day while sleeping or working. One such device is the far infrared mat-
tress pad invented by Japanese scientists. The safe direct current (DC)
in the pad (converted from the universal AC) fl ows through carbon-
impregnated sheets, radiating heat waves that penetrate the innermost
rich cholla cactus buds, tepary beans, and mesquite that she and
the other Indians living in the desert had eaten.
Her new diet lacked the soluble fi bers of her traditional diet,
which had speeded the transit of hot sauce through her digestive
tract, not giving it a chance to irritate her stomach tissues. As it was,
her fi ber-defi cient diet slowed her digestion, leaving behind spicy,
acidic food residues that infl amed her stomach muscles and caused
them to go into spasms.
Angela began eating oatmeal, seven-grain bread, and sprouted
wheat bread for its enzyme content. The fi bers, along with the
enzyme supplements she was taking, broke down her foods at a
faster pace, and the hot, spicy foods moved more quickly through
her digestive tract. This gave her infl amed stomach tissues a chance
to heal. Soon after, her stomach spasms went away.
