Citation form of a word
The pronunciation of a word when it is said carefully, and usually alone. For example,
the citation form of and is /ænd/, and the citation form of to is /tuw/.
In contrast, the reduced form of a word is its pronunciation when it is said in normal
speech at a normal speed, and it is not being stressed. For example, the reduced form
of and is /ən/ or /n/, and the reduced form of to is /tə/.
