TRADE-IN OR SELL YOUR KIT

Technique BUY AND SELL WITH CONFIDENCE

Private or specialist dealer sale?
There are basically two ways to sell photographic kit
you no longer want: privately to an individual or to a
specialist dealer such as Park Cameras. In some
cases, you may find that you can get a better price with
a private sale, but you have to factor in the extra time it
takes to advertise the item you’re selling, whether
that’s in a local paper or via an online sales site. You’re
responsible for finding an individual who is interested in
buying what you’re selling. If you sell to a specialist
retailer, however, it’s just a case of agreeing the price
and sending them the kit – in some cases they will even
arrange the collection for you, or you can pop into a
store to speak to an expert and leave the kit with them.

tips on how to go about it

Private or specialist dealer
purchase?
Just like selling second-hand kit, it can take time to find
an individual who is selling the item that you are looking
for in the condition and at the price that you want. A
dealer, however, is likely to have several examples of key
products at different prices that reflect their condition.
You can also call into a shop to look at the kit and buy it
or order it via their website for delivery.
