AFTERWORD


One of the most amazing facts about Milton Erickson,
is that throughout his very long career as a
hypnotherapist, there wasn't a single person that he
was unable to hypnotize.


Of course you realize that everyone has a RAS and
it's only by relaxing someone that you deactivate the
RAS and can insert programs into the subject's
biocomputer. If someone wants to fight against you, of
course it would be very difficult indeed for you to
hypnotize them against their will.


A new patient of Milton Erickson's called to see
him, he wanted to be cured of some ailment or the
other. He emphat ically told Milton that his problem
was, of course, that he couldn't be hypnotized. Milton
said he would do his very best anyway and started to
work with the client. Of course Milton failed because
of the clients' resistance, but Milton suggested that he
stay for the rest of the day. During the course of the
day he tried many times between other patients and of
course the gentleman just could not be hypnotized.
Milton tried every trick in the book, he really appeared
to put himself out.


At the end of the day, fairly late in the evening,
Milton advised the fellow that he was sorry that he'd
failed but he really did give it his best shot. With that,
