Meaning of the āsana and its name
Utkaa means powerful. Utkaasana is like sitting on a ̄
high chair. It is strengthening the ankle and knee joints. It
teaches lifting the spine, thorax, and arms against gravity.
Getting into the posture
- Stand in Tā āsana.
- Elevate your arms.
- Join the palms if this is possible with straight
arms; otherwise leave the arms parallel, with the
palms facing each other.
